My Story…
I'm running for WISH.
WISH works to improve the health, safety and well-being of women who are involved in Vancouver's street-based sex trade. I've been involved off and on with WISH since 2013, currently serving in my second year on the board as Treasurer. This is a very important organization providing multiple programs spanning from the drop-in centre, to the mobile access project van, to the supportive employment program. Last year I was unable to actually run in the Scotiabank 5K due to a knee injury sustained 2 weeks prior to the run. Now after almost a year of physio and rehab (with several tears in my right knee), I'm aiming to run as much of the 5K as I can!

Description
WISH Drop-In Centre Society puts its mission, values, and core principles into action by providing services, supports and opportunities to women engaged in Vancouver’s street based sex industry. WISH offers a safe haven for sex-working women: a place to take a break, connect with colleagues and friends, get a bite to eat or access other, more specific kinds of support – in a safe, respectful, accepting environment. As a deeply respected member of the DTES community, WISH offers programs to serve immediate needs, while engaging in the ongoing advocacy required to shift societal prejudices that continue to put women at risk.
