Raise money for L'Arche Calgary

L’Arche Calgary is a charity that helps and supports people with developmental disabilities. L'Arche has five group homes in Calgary, a Supported Independent Living Program and a Day Program. They support adults with developmental disabilities and have been operating since 1973.

Founded in France in 1964 by humanitarian Jean Vanier, L'Arche has grown rapidly since then and today there are 137 L’Arche communities in 40 countries around the world.

For community members with disabilities L’Arche is truly home. Prior to coming to L'Arche, some people spent their childhood and youth in poverty or were shut away in institutions; while others were isolated in places where their basic human need for community and belonging were not met. Love and compassion are the two essential ingredients in a L'Arche community.

The Run for L’Arche is a perfect fit with community members. Why? Part of the philosophy of L'Arche is that everyone has gifts to share and that we are all part of a greater community. Every year the entire L’Arche Calgary and surrounding area homes (as far as Lethbridge) attend the Run in some capacity as either runners or volunteers.
