On Sunday March 10, 2019 Another Brick in Nepal is hosting the second annual trail race in East Sooke Park.
On April 25, 2015 Nepal was struck by a 7.8 magnitude earthquake. Over one million homes and five thousand schools were completely destroyed. Another Brick in Nepal formed with the goal of rebuilding these schools to give deserving kids an education in a safe building.
To date, Another Brick in Nepal has built one complete school in rural Nepal, furnished a school in Kathmandu and has recently committed to another build in a remote community. The first annual trail race provided the funds to furnish the Yagyamati Seconday School in Kathmandu, after there were no funds remaining to furnish classrooms rebuilt by the government.
Another Brick in Nepal is focused on continuing to help in Nepal. The most recent project is to rebuild the Sharada Secondary School in the Sankhuwasava district of Nepal. The school has over 450 students and their two-storey building has been deemed unusable post-earthquake. Another Brick in Nepal will raise $50,000.00 to help complete the re-build of this school.
The 2018 trail run had 120 registrants and the aim is to bring out more people this year. The post-race food was warm Nepali food provided by Victoria's The Mint restaurant. The second annual race will have more of a Nepali feel. Please register and come out to support Another Brick in Nepal. Your registration fees will directly help out in Nepal.
