WWIA 5K

Run, Walk, and Stroll to help Honor, Connect, and Heal

Tampa Bay, get ready for the WWIA 5K!

Join us on Saturday, June 29, 2019.  This timed 5K offers you the choice to run, walk, or stroll through beautiful Al Lopez Park.

Our race is professionally timed and the Overall Top Male and Female finishers will receive prizes.  Top Male and Top Female finishers in each age category will also be acknowledged.  Every finisher registered before May 31, 2019 will receive a race shirt and finisher's medal.  Stay for our after-party for vouchers for adult beverages provided by Bootleggers Brewing Company, ice cream, awards, and more! 
 
The course is paved and flat, providing beautiful scenery as you complete two loops that make the full 5K.  Water stations will be provided along the course.
 
You may opt to run or walk with a stroller.  We ask that those with a stroller start in the back of the start corral to avoid accidentally tripping other participants.  

Discounted registration is available for Veterans who show their Military ID or Drivers License with a "V" symbol at packet pickup with Promo Code VET20. Purple Heart recipients will be able to participate free with registration to WWIA by using Promo Code PHFREE. Proceeds and registration benefit the Wounded Warriors in Action Foundation Inc. (WWIA). WWIA serves our nation’s combat-wounded Purple Heart recipients by providing world-class outdoor sporting activities as a means to recognize and honor their sacrifice, encourage independence and connections with communities, and promote healing and wellness through camaraderie and a shared passion for the outdoors.  To find out more, visit wwiaf.org.

5K Map

Al Lopez Park is a beautiful setting for the race. To complete the entire 5K, participants will take the blue outer loop then the red inner loop, as shown below. There is a short portion of the race that is on the sidewalk along Himes Avenue. 5ba53d506dd1e.png

Weather

We will be holding the WWIA 5K rain or shine. While we aren't anticipating a hurricane in January, your safety is our utmost concern. If the event is cancelled due to extreme weather, there will be no refund. In the event of lightning in the area, we will postpone starting the event as long as possible.
