My Story…
As some of you may be aware, I recieved a kidney transplant in 2013 due to a condition called Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD). I was lucky enough to skip dialysis and go straight to the transplant courtesy of my wonderful mother, Maureen McGoff. She made the trip from Scotland to Victoria, to give her son life for the second time! She is a wonderful lady and her health is doing very well since the donation. Over the last couple of years I have got myself fit and healthy and this year I am competing in my very first marathon. I've always wanted to do something to pay forward the privilege I had in recieving a new kidney. I cannot emphasize enough on the importance of organ donation, it really does give individuals and families a second chance at life. With the help of my friends, family and running community I hope to raise at least $5000 to go towards kidney research and development. My mum and I want to make sure other Canadians can have the same opportunity we had.
