Pre-volunteering and Day-of Events We have need for volunteers both before the race and day-of the race. When you sign up, please check the dates and time to ensure that you are signing up for the shift that you want to work.
Assignment and Check-in Our volunteer coordinator will contact you to confirm your assignment and time of arrival. Each volunteer is asked to check in by the designated time at the Volunteer Registration table. Training will start promptly, so please be on time!

More information about time and activities of the volunteer positions are below. When you sign up, you'll sign up for a shift rather than a specific role unless you are a biker or medical volunteer.
Course Marking Help us mark the course for the runners so that they know where to go! We will be using chalk and/or cones to mark the route. Familiarity with Palo Alto and a bike is helpful for this activity! Course marking will take place on the morning of March 23, 2019.
Race Packet Pick-up Give racers their race numbers and information for Sunday's race! Packet distribution will take place on the afternoon of March 23, 2019.
Race Day Events
5K/10K Course Support: 7:30 am - 11:30 am ** VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!!! **
You will help keep the course safe for the runners, direct runners to stay on the course, answer questions and act as a cheerleader! Please check in at City Hall by 7:30 am for a brief training. You will need to be at your stations by 8:30 am.
Race will take place rain or shine. There is no back up race monitor for your location; this position is critical for the safety of the race.
Medical: 8:00 am - 12:00 pm The Medical Volunteers will provide emergency medical support if needed. Medical volunteers must be certified in first aid and CPR. Please check in at City Hall by 8:00 am.
Driver: 8:15 am - 11:30 am The drivers help get our volunteers to their course monitoring positions and picking them up when the race is done. Familiarity with Palo Alto and the race route is important. We also ask that you are available for a meeting on Saturday, March 23 to learn your assigned positions.
Setup/Home Base: 6:00 am - 10:00 am You will be setting up the race pavilion, unloading cars, setting up tables and booth. After this shift, you will be welcoming race participants; providing them with their race numbers, t-shirts; answering questions; helping with the photo booth, and directing participants to the correct location. After finishing registration, we'll ask you to help hand out finishing prizes, set up awards and do other event duties. Please check in at City Hall by 6:00 am.
Lead Bikers: 8:00 am - 10:30 am The lead biker will help ride the route to show runners where to go and ride it again at the end to make sure that there are no more runners on the course. Please check in at City Hall by 8:00 am. We also request that you prepare by riding the route with us on Saturday, March 23.
Finish Line/Clean-up: 9:15 am - 12:30 pm The finish line / clean-up crew will help hand out water to our runners, help with awards distribution, and make sure that our race is cleaned up!
