2020 Racing Hearts 5k/10k

Dear Racing Hearts 5k/10k Participants, Sponsors, and Community,
The City of Palo Alto, Palo Alto Police and Fire, and Racing Hearts has decided to postpone the 7th Annual Heart Race which was set for March 29, 2020 because of concerns about the COVID-19/Corona Virus Outbreak.
As you probably know, many of our Racing Heart’s community members have cardiovascular and/or related significant, underlying medical conditions. These groups are highly vulnerable and we need to do what we can to protect them.
Based on information from the CDC and the Santa Clara County Health Department, postponing is the right thing to do. If anyone on our team or one of our community participants got very ill or worse because of our event, we would be devastated.
We will miss seeing all of your spirit and support towards heart wellness on March 29, but we hope to find an alternate date. Your registration will be good for the rescheduled date. We will continue to monitor the situation and send updates throughout the month.

Sunday, March 29th (BREAKING NEWS: RACE POSTPONED) for our 7th Annual Racing Hearts 5k walk/run and 10k run in downtown Palo Alto. We are excited to celebrate active living for heart disease and to help place life saving heart defibrillators (AEDs) in our community. Register online now through race day or in person at our packet pickup (@ A Runner's Mind in Los Altos on Sat. 28 from 11-2pm) or Sunday morning at the event. Registration starts at 7:30AM.
Limited space available! We are limited to 1500 participants, so we encourage you to register early. All registered participants will receive a race shirt and an event medal given day of the race when completing the Racing Hearts 5k/10k.
Support our community: Racing Hearts is a part of the Run Palo Alto Challenge. Race events include the Juana Run (March 28), Racing Hearts 5k/10k (March 29), and the Great Race for Saving Water (April 25). Register to run, walk, or volunteer at all three events and you will be automatically entered to win a pair of brand new running shoes!
Please note: While there are no refunds, our team would be happy to transfer your registration to another participant. Thank you for supporting our mission!

Event Information
Parking
Public parking is free on Sundays. Parking is available in the parking garage below City Hall at 250 Hamilton Ave (entrance via Ramona St.). Additional street parking is available throughout downtown Palo Alto.
Course Routes
The 5k walk/run and 10k run both start and finish at City Hall. While the routes for both 5K/10K are not certified because of the possibility of last minute changes, they are accurate for distance. Baby Strollers are allowed but please no pets except for service animals.
Awards
All participants who cross the finish line (5K or 10K) will earn a beautiful finisher medal! Additional *prizes* will be given to the top 2 males and 2 females finishers (determined by chip time), per race, in each age group: 0-12, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+.
