The City of Delaware Parks and Recreation Department invite you and all youth 15 & under to participate in the Dave Staley Aquathlon & Youth Splash-n-Dash Aquathlon. The Dave Staley Aquathlon & Youth Splash-n-Dash is similar to triathlon, but without the cycling leg. The Aquathlon is designed to be a fun event for all individuals regardless of their fitness and experience level.
Distance Options(s):
Adult (16 & older): 400m pool swim + 3.1 mi run
Youth (Ages 6-10): 100m swim+ 1 mi run
Youth (Ages 11-15): 200m swim+1 mi run
Age is based on age of December 31, 2019.

Dave Staley - A Rich History
The Dave Staley multisport experience is the oldest of its' kind in Delaware and Central Ohio. It's a favorite from young to old, from novice to elite athletes because of its rich tradition, fun experience, and scenic location in Mingo Park along the Olentangy River.
Event Divisions & Rules
Adult Division (16 & Older)
Adult participants will receive an overall time plus a swim and run time. The Top 3 Male and Female Overall Finishers based on time will receive a commemorative award.
Youth Splash-n-Dash Division (Ages 6 - 15)
All Youth Participants will receive a special USAT Splash-n-Dash medal. Youth Participants will receive an overall time but splits will not be recorded and there are no awards based on finish. Here are event divisions:
- Age 5-6, 7-9
- Ages 10-12
- Ages 13-15
Event Rules
- All participants must wear assigned number on the front of shirt or shorts during the run. Bib number must be visible to checkpoint recorders at all times. Youth participants will not be scored at the finish line unless their number is visible when cross the finish.
- Swim Caps colors and numbers will be assigned and must be worn. Must have the swim cap to start the swim.
- One adult parent is permitted in the transition area during set-up. Transition closes promptly at stated time. No entrance into transition will be permitted after stated time. Parents are not permitted in transition once event begins and can not assist the youth in any manner during the event, including handing them shoes or running along side with them during the run.

From the Cleveland to host venue - Take Route 71 South Columbus to SR 36/37. Turn RIGHT toward Delaware. Take 36/37 toward Delaware. In Delaware, continue on SR 36 (becomes E William St) to N. Union St. Turn RIGHT onto N. Union St. Take N. Union St to E. Lincoln Ave - turn RIGHT and take into Mingo Park. In Mingo Park, turn LEFT and park in main parking lot.
From Toledo to host venue - Take S.R 23 South to Central Ave Exit. Turn RIGHT on Central to N. Union St. Turn RIGHT. Take N. Union St to E. Lincoln Ave - turn RIGHT and take into Mingo Park. In Mingo Park, turn LEFT and park in main parking lot.
From Cincinnati to host venue - Take Route 71 North to SR 36/37. Turn LEFT toward Delaware. Take 36/37 toward Delaware. In Delaware, continue on SR 36 (becomes E William St) to N. From Columbus on US 23 North to host venue - Take US-23 North to Delaware to William St Exit. Turn LEFT on E William St and take E. William St to N. Union St. Turn RIGHT onto N. Union St. Take N. Union St to E. Lincoln Ave - turn RIGHT and take into Mingo Park. In Mingo Park, turn LEFT and park in main parking lot.
Inclement Weather Policy
Weather forecasts will be monitored prior to the event paying special attention to the possibility of heavy rain, thunder and lightning, high winds and extreme temperatures. If necessary, athletes will be made aware of these predictions on the Greenswell website and on our Facebook so that participants can properly prepare for severe weather during the race as well as possible course alterations. Severe weather updates will also be sent to participants via email as necessary.
The Event Director and Safety Director will monitor the weather and make a decision if any action will be taken to modify the race. Possible changes include: altering the start time for the race or in extreme situations, cancellation of the event. Please listen closely to all public address announcements at the starting line of the race.
Visible lightning will cause the race to be postponed for a minimum of 30 minutes. Additional sightings will continue to delay the race in 15 minute increments.
If heat is predicted, extra water and hydration stations will be provided to the athletes, both prior to, during and after the event. The medical team will be alerted that athletes may require additional medical attention during and after the event due to the high temperatures. If it is felt that it is unsafe for participants to start the race due to severe heat that race may be suspended or cancelled.
Race personnel reserve the right to delay, cancel, or suspend the race due to inclement weather. Participants must abandon the race if ordered to do so the race personnel, medical staff, fire or police officers.
