WE RIDE! And so should you!
Experience farmlands, tree lined roads, small towns and small lakes,
Great Lakes, and beaches.
The Dick Allen Lansing to MACkinaw Bicycle Tour is Michigan’s fully-supported, epic end-of-summer bicycle camping tour. Four routes wind northward in 2, 3, 4 or 5 days through Michigan’s countryside and quaint small towns, from East Lansing to up north destinations, ending in Mackinaw City. Each route varies in distance providing just the right challenge for all bicyclists.
Riders enjoy a fully supported tour that includes:
- Low-traffic roads
- Spectacular scenery
- Rolling hills and downhill thrills
- Stunning vistas that include the Great Lakes and Mackinac Bridge
- Ample opportunities to enjoy cookies, ice cream and pie
- A variety of breweries en route and in host communities
- Resort towns
- Friendly SAGs
Things to know before registering:
All private SAGs must register as participants. There are three types of private SAG service:
Ø Private SAG with Meals – the registrant is providing SAG service for a registered rider. The registration provides the same access to the facilities as the riders have, including meals and showers. In addition to the registration fee, a vehicle permit is required. Each person in the private SAG vehicle must register. Registration is route specific.
Ø Private SAG without Meals – the registrant is providing SAG service for a registered rider. The registration permits a vehicle to be onsite at camp in designated areas. Registration does not include meals. Access to shower facilities is limited to after 8:00 p.m. each day. Registration is not route specific. In addition to registering for the Private SAG without Meals, registrant also needs to purchase access for each occupant of the SAG vehicle (including the driver) in the products and merchandise section of the registration.
Ø Self SAG – the registrant is registering as a rider for one of the routes and will have a vehicle onsite. Registration allows a vehicle to be onsite at camp in a designated area. Registrant must purchase the "Self-SAG" vehicle registration.
If registering for the 2 Day Trail ride, you may check-in and camp on Friday night in Grayling or you may check-in on Saturday morning in Grayling. Riders are responsible for getting to the start of the ride in Wolverine on Saturday morning. If purchasing a return bus ticket, the bus will be stopping in Wolverine.
Again this year, none of the routes will be crossing the Mackinac Bridge. All routes will end at the Mackinaw City High School.
