My Story…
Hi everyone!
My Mom was diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer in June 2016. To me, my mom was the definition of a fighter, she continued to live her life while fighting this awful cancer. As a nurse working in Oncology, I had taken care of many patients fighting all types of cancer, and I knew how awful pancreatic cancer was. It was so surreal to be on the other side, it's a the worst feeling in the world. I always thought, WHY? Mom was such a giving person and how could a former nurse get this disease? It was so unfair.
"BE STRONG." is what my mom always told me, in fact I remember the last day she told me this right before she went into Hospice. This has become my motto, when I feel like I can't do something or even if I am in the middle of WOD and want to give up.. I can still hear my mom say, "Be strong, Andrea."
My hope is that some day we might be able to find better treatment options, or even a cure. A 9% survival rate is unacceptable. Please help me in my cause, thanks!

Help fight for survival. Pancreatic Cancer has only a 9% survival rate at 5 years, 71% of patients will die within 1 year of diagnosis. There is NO early detection and NO cure for this disease. With your help Project Purple is able to continue it's fight for survival and funding critical research for early detection and a cure. By 2020 Pancreatic Cancer will become the #2 killer of all cancer related deaths. It's getting worse not better and we need your help to change that.
