Raise money for SCAD RESEARCH INC
SCAD Research is dedicated to raising funds to support the most promising Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection (SCAD) research and to ultimately bring awareness, dissemination of knowledge and research findings to individuals and families impacted by SCAD.
What is SCAD?
Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection (SCAD) is a little known and poorly understood cause of a heart attack. It often impacts young and healthy individuals, who do not have the typical risk factors for heart disease.
SCAD strikes without warning when a tear occurs within the layers of one or more arteries to the heart. This tear blocks blood flow to the heart, causing a heart attack and sometimes death.
Additional facts:
·#1 cause of heart attack among women under age 50, new mothers and pregnant women
·More than 90% of SCAD heart attacks occur in women
·The average age of a SCAD patient is 42 years.
·Those impacted are typically otherwise healthy.
·SCAD can reoccur and can be fatal.
…and we don’t know WHY
Research is needed to determine the cause and prevention of SCAD.
