NSWA Darsigny Training Camp
This camp is open to all NSWA members who have met the High Performance Group minimum threshold (have made totals in competition that are within 55% of the Canadian senior marks). Please see our full ranking list on our website for further information. While this is an NSWA event, 5 spots will remain open to members of the NBWA and PEIWA, provided they have a competition total within 55% of the Canadian senior marker. Interested NBWA and PEIWA members should contact Augie Westhaver at the email address below for registration instructions.
Facilitator
The training camp will be run by Yvan Darsigny. Mr. Darsigny was an accomplished weightlifter, representing Canada in the the 1984 and 1992 Olympic Games. His talent as an athlete has carried into his success as a coach with international stature. He currently coaches at La Machine Rouge, one of the top clubs in Canada, where a number of national team athletes train, including his daughter Tali Darsigny, who placed ninth at the 2017 World Championships, won silver at the 2018 Common Wealth Games, and took home a bronze medal at the World Juniors in 2018. For this camp, Yvan will be joined by his son, Matt, who holds a junior Canadian record and competed in the World Juniors in 2018.
This camp will be periodized in such a way as to support those athletes who will be attending the Canadian Senior Championships in May 2019 and thus will not interfere with their competition preparation. Those athletes who are not attending the Canadian Senior Championships will benefit from heavy work under the eye of a highly qualified Canadian weightlifting coach.
