For the past several years, the Atlanta HBCU Alumni Alliance (AHBCUAA) has galvanized thousands of HBCU alumni, family and friends in support of health awareness and scholarship. The theme, Run For You, Run For Them, Run For Us, highlights our three-fold purpose:  Run For You embodies the health aspect and the importance of getting active,Run For Them represents the scholarship dollars raised for future students of the great participating HBCUs, and Run For Us represents the strength and success we achieve when we work collectively.

Heart Disease.  Cancer.  Stroke. Diabetes. It’s a dismal fact but those words resonate loudly amongst the African-American community as the leading causes of death. Together, through the 5K Run/Walk, we have the opportunity to take a stand for healthier living, to encourage lifestyles balanced by good diet and exercise, and to promote regular health exams to help to deter these conditions.

Scholarship. The AHBCUAA schools provide thousands of dollars in scholarships to metro-Atlanta students attending their respective alma maters each year, as well as contribute to the Mayor’s Youth program.  The Run/Walk is one of the premiere scholarship fundraisers allowing the group to continue to provide the gift of education.

Distinguished Alumni Race Marshals: Each year, the AHBCUAA invites distinguished alumni of all HBCUs to join us at as official Race Marshals at the event.  One person is also named our Grand Marshal and provides the welcome address and sounds the starting gun.
