This is a two-day training weekend with clinics and training opportunity for all females ages 13 & over led by the female coaches of the TriColumbus Triathlon Club. The purpose of the weekend is introduce ladies of all levels to the basics of triathlon, give both experienced and beginner triathletes an opportunity to swim, bike and run with a group, and to socialize, make new friends, and have fun.
Clinic Topics to be covered:
Triathlon 101: How Not to Drown, Crash, Trip, or Forget to Pick up the Kids…basic principles and rules of the triathlon as well as provide tips to help balance your training with raising your family
The Swim – Goggle Marks are Sexy! Whether you can swim the American crawl like Michael Phelps or just dog paddle, we will get you in the water to work on your stroke as well as explain the dynamics of the open water swim. You will learn open water and other swimming techniques to improve your swim. You will get in the water get to practice your swim.
The Bike - Change a Flat in 2.2 minutes and Make the Most of Your Ride! Learn basic bike care, shifting instruction to maximize your power and effort, as well as the rules during the triathlon regarding drafting, dismount, etc. You will have the opportunity to take part in a supportive group ride of 6-13 miles.
The Run: Oh no, My Legs are Jello!! Many women approach the triathlon with a running background, but it is certainly different when you transition off the bike to the run. Tips to make this easier as well as practice and experience! A group run and short run off the bike to allow you to experience the sensation of running after the bike.
Transition Checklists – Everything but the Kitchen Sink…We will go over checklists, common mistakes, and tips to get you in and out as fast as possible with the least amount of stress. We will also discuss nutrition at this session; the before, during and after needs all female triathletes have.
Wrap Up - Topics To Be Determined by the Needs of the Group. A fun and festive approach to practice all three disciplines as well as transitions without the stress and pressure of your first race. And celebration festivities afterwards, to be sure!

Cost to Participate:
The training weekend cost $25 to participate. This fee will be donated to the Stefanie Spielman Fund For Breast Cancer Research. Participation is free to members of TriColumbus Triathlon Club.
