The 120 km Loop was added in 2017 and has become the most challenging and popular ride. The ride features a number of hills along the length of the loop and low traffic roads. Riders will experience breathtaking views of the Atlantic Coast as they ride through the coastal fishing communities of Larry’s River, Charlos Cove, Port Felix, Hazel Hill and historic Canso. The loop concludes with a ride back into Guysborough along Highway 16. Take in the views of Chedabucto Bay as you push to the finish line. The loop includes five rest stops operated by local volunteers who will keep you nourished and hydrated as well as cheer you on along the way.
Another popular choice, the 90 km loop offers all the challenges of the 120 km loop but over a shorter distance. Participants will experience beautiful oceanfront riding as they meander through the communities of Larry’s River, Charlos Cove and Port Felix. Riders of the 90 km loop will turn left onto Highway 16 (120km will turn right and do the Canso loop) and continue back to Guysborough with views along Chedabucto Bay. The loop includes four rest stops operated by local volunteers who will keep you nourished and hydrated as well as cheer you on along the way.
Beginning in Guysborough riders will take a 25 km ride on Highway 16 to the Queensport Lighthouse Park with views along Chedabucto Bay. There they will enjoy a beautiful view of the Queensport Lighthouse as well as food and drink to restore your energy for the 25km trip back to Guysborough. This ride features more hills and a greater overall challenge than the 35km loop.
This ride is perfect for those new to Gran Fondo’s or those looking for a less challenging ride. It features 35 km of waterfront riding. It follows the Milford Haven River around the communities of Boylston and Guysborough Intervale. There is a rest stop at the head of the tide where you can replenish your energy for the ride back into Guysborough. With very few hills, this ride offers a relaxing and sociable experience.
This is a perfect ride for those who would enjoy a scenic route through the Historic Guysborough Rail Trail along the banks of the Salmon River. Head right and make a quick left onto Tompkinsville Road . Look for a right turn at the end of Tompkinsville Road. Enjoy the trail and soon you will be crossing McAllister Suspension Bridge.
