The IWK 5K - In Memory of Jessica is a family friendly fun run/walk to help support the IWK Health Centre. Jennifer Manuel started organizing this event in 2010 to commemorate her twin daughter Jessica, who passed away June 12, 2008 in the IWK Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). She started running to help her mentally and so she could be there for Jessica's twin, Alyssa who was still in the NICU. Running gave her the strength she needed to get through each day. She wanted to run in a race that she was passionate about, and was looking for a run for the IWK, or for a children's charity, but she couldn't find one locally...so she started her own. Giving back to the IWK is her way to turn a tragedy in her family's life to something positive for other families who depend on the IWK services.

Each family can register a minimum no. of 4 (2 adults and 2 children) and a maximum no. of 8 (2 adults and 6 children) family members. Each additional family member over 4 will be charged an additional fee of $10.

- If you are registering 11+ members, you must select sub-event "5km Run/Walk" (price will be $20 per person) for members 11 on.
