Life;Story is an event bringing our community together to raise awareness and funding that will save the lives of people who are loved – whose Life;Story matters. Depression and suicide are very serious issues in our communities, and Life;Story celebrates the hope and healing that can be found through caring family, community, and professional support and services.
We hope you were able to stay for the program and hear the inspirational messages of HOPE from our speakers - Mike Coleman and Debbie Bacon, Rich Walker, and Nik Wallenda.
Thank you to Sarasota Dove Release, Manatee High School, Booker High School, Nik Wallenda, Bayside Community Church, and Flutterby Gardens for their participation in the Opening Ceremony, Race Start, and Program.

Join Centerstone for the Life;Story 5K/10K Run and Walk for Depression Awareness and Suicide Prevention in beautiful scenic Nathan Benderson Park, site of Florida's Aquatic Sports Center in Sarasota. The 5K/10K Run and Walk follows a path over two bridges and through a scenic route around the lake and back. Prior to the race, there will be an opening ceremony with an inspirational Sarasota Dove Release. After the race, stay around for the awards ceremony, featured speaker Nik Wallenda, and experience the impact of the survivor butterfly release by Flutterby Gardens.
Be among the first to receive a Life;Story finishing medal for 5K/10K events - new this year! 
7:00 a.m. - Dr. Mac Kid's races for children 3-12 years old. All children receive a crafted finishers medal and custom engraved trophies to boy and girls placing 1st through 3rd in the 3 to 4 yr; 5 to 6 yr; 7 to 8 yr; and 10 to 12 yr categories. Children 12 and under registered for the 5K can run in the Kid's race for free!

What We Do
Depression affects 20-25% of American adults in a given year, and only half of those experiencing an episode of major depression receive treatment. Suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the US for all ages and 2nd leading cause for Florida residents ages 10-24. On average, one person dies by suicide every three hours in the state of Florida. This public health crisis has to be eradicated, and Centerstone is here to help.
Centerstone offers state-of-the-art mental health and addictions care with facilities in Manatee, Sarasota, DeSoto, Glades, Hendry, and Lee Counties. Our goal is to ensure that crisis services are available to anyone experiencing depression or thoughts of suicide. By supporting the Annual Life;Story 5K/10K, you are helping us "deliver care that changes people's lives."
Centerstone is a not-for-profit health care organization dedicated to delivering care that changes people’s lives. We provide mental health and addictions treatment, education and support to communities in Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky and Tennessee and additionally offer individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities life skills development, employment and housing services. Nationally, we have specialized programs for service members, veterans and their loved ones, and develop employee assistance programs for businesses of all sizes. Our research institute improves behavioral healthcare through research and technology, and our foundation secures philanthropic resources to support our work.
