Wai Nui Why Not 2019

The 21st Wai Nui Why Not race is being held in picturesque Oakville at the Wai Nui O Kanaka club. Start and finish are at the mouth of 16 Mile Creek just outside Oakville Harbour. 

After the races, lunch, awards and some very cool swag will follow at the Oakville Power Boat Club. Bring your own chairs - there is lots of space on the lawn. 

Wai Nui Why Not is the first of the three races in the 2019 Waterway Series. Please let us know if you or your team are registered for the Series and your results will be captured and posted. 

Fees include racing, lunch, awards and swag. Online registration of $45 is available until 6PM Friday August 9. Day of event registration is $60 cash. 

Lunch only tickets $15 are available. RSVP organizer and pay day of.

Race Information - Boat Classes

All races are 15 km apart from the Kupuna race, which is 5 km. The course is set in a loop to take advantage of the wind and waves.

Note: for OC-6, OC-2, K2 and C2 Leader/Coach must register first and create a name for your team and register yourself. Advise your team participants that they must register under that team name.

A limited number OC-6s are available for rental on a first-come, first-served basis. Contact Tim  at pucknpaddle@gmail.com 

Bring your own PFD, hydration system and preferably your own paddle. Limited number of paddles are available from Wai Nui as part of the OC-6 rental.

8:00 - 8:45 am Check In and Registration
9:00 -9:30 Greetings, Coaches/Participants Meeting
9:30 - 10:00 Boats put in on 16 Mile Creek.
10:00 - 15 km Race Start
11:30 - 5 km Kupuna Race
12:30 pm - Lunch, refreshments, awards at the Oakville Power Boat Club, 150 Water Street, next to the Wai Nui Hale.
