The Halifax Rainbow Pride Run
Thanks to all participants and cheer squads who brought those good race vibes in 2019!
Follow us on Instagram for details on 2020's socially-distant event to be held on July 22nd, and how you can still participate this year.
The Rainbow Run is Halifax Pride's fast, fun and fabulous 5K, when you get to bring that parade route thunder and help us hype up the crowd! The 5K kicks off just before the parade begins - the course starts on Bell Road just north of South Park, does a quick turnaround, and runs a full loop of the parade route, turning back at the Parade start point and finishing where it started at the Garrison Grounds (walkers and sexy pacers will 'join' the pride parade if they have not finished the course before the parade starts :>).
Costumes, rainbows and all your fiercest run finery is enthusiastically encouraged!
Come run Halifax's fiercest 5K.

FAQ
How do I find bib pick up?
On Friday, July 19 from 5:30 to 7:30pm and on the day of the race from 10am to race start, you'll find the bib pick up at the race kiosk at the Garrison Grounds.
Where are the Garrison Grounds?
The Garrison Grounds are located at the south corner of Citadel hill (at the intersection of Sackville, South Park and Bell Road).
Can I register on race day?
Limited registration will be available prior to the race for $30 cash only. The cutoff for race-day registration is noon.
Can I check my bag?
There will be a race bag check near bib pick up on the Garrison Grounds at the North End Runners Kiosk and it will be open from 10am to 2:00pm, any bags left at that time will be handed to the Pride security team.
Is the race timed?
Thanks to Atlantic Chip, this is a timed 5K! May the power of the rainbow bring you a 5K PB!
What do you mean, 'rainbow gear'?
We mean the colour of magic. We mean like the glow from a unicorn's horn. The way glitter on your cheeks makes your eyes pop. The full spectrum of love that cannot be refuted or ignored or delegitimized. The colour you love times a thousand. Wear all the colours, or wear one colour real loud. You do you. Let ALLLLL the beayouuuutiful colours of the rainbow empower you!
Is there official Halifax Rainbow Pride Run swag?
YES! The North End Runners x Halifax Rainbow Pride Run race tee for 2019 is coming soon! You have the option to purchase yours when registering to show your #runpride. Race tees are only available with registration until Wednesday, July 3 at 11:59PM!
Is there parking?
While there's no Pride-specific parking, there is paid lot and on-street parking available near the Garrison Grounds in multiple locations. If you're driving, we'd advise you to plan ahead! The street closure will affect all travel - pedestrian and auto - across the downtown core.
Is there a water stop?
There will be one water stop near the turnaround point at Valour Way and Upper Water Street. There will be water stations on the Garrison Grounds to fill your personal water bottles - please help us keep the Pride Run plastic free by filling your own before or after the race!
I'm a walker, or a slower pacer - what do you mean by 'join the parade'?
The Pride parade will start from its muster point (and the race route turnaround) at Valour Way and Upper Water Street at 1pm. Those who haven't reached the turnaround by 1pm will be running against the parade until the turnaround, and those who have reached the turnaround but are still on route may find the parade 'catches up' to them. We ask that runners stay to the far right to allow floats to pass if need be.
When does the course close?
The race starts at 12:30pm SHARP, and the course closes at 2pm. Runners and walkers will have 1.5 hours to finish with a time.
I decided I don't want to run after all, can I get a refund?
Unfortunately we're not able to offer refunds, but you can transfer your registration to a friend, just let us know!
