Libby is one of several (the actual number I will not disclose ;) Survivor animals I've adopted from HSHC over the last 15 years. She is a hairless Chihuahua that had been used as a breeding female until she was dumped at the shelter at 9 years old. She had a pyometra--a life threatening condition where the uterus of unspayed females becomes infected. Her teeth were falling out--literally--when she tried to eat dry kibble. She was partially blind--with one eye sunken from never being treated. This is the life of most backyard breeding/puppy mill females. Through our Survivor Program, Libby's life was saved. And while she only has one tooth and is now totally blind, and it took several months for her to even know how to be held, she is still thriving at (in a pink, polka dot onesie) at 14 yrs old. She got her chance to live, love, and be loved--like thousands of others--because of our Survivor Program. My team this year is in her honor. Please consider donating today!
