The Global Energy Race by Dempster’s is an event that celebrates Canadians getting active together and giving back to our community. This is part of a unique global event that brings together more than 120,000 runners in 22 countries and 36 cities, taking place on the same day worldwide!
For every kilometre completed by participants, Dempster's will donate 2 slices of bread to the North York Harvest Food Bank.
Who is it for?
The 3K walk/run is open to all levels, including families with children and walking groups, to promote physical activity at all ages. Families are invited to enjoy live entertainment and free activities before and after the race.
The 10K timed race is for those who want to challenge themselves. The first place male and female in the 10K race will receive a trip to the 2020 Global Energy Race in Buenos Aires, Argentina, for themselves and a guest (including airfare and accommodations, approx. retail value of $6,500 CAD). Please review official Rules and Regulations during registration.
What does the registration include?
Registration includes the race kit (t-shirt, race bib), swag bag, a post-race lunch featuring Dempster’s products, and the official 2019 Global Energy Race medal.

Pack Pick-Up
Advance Pack Pick-Up
With over 1600 participants, you can avoid stress and save time waiting in line on race morning by picking up your race pack (T-shirt, bib) the day before. Advance Pack Pick-Up is strongly recommended and will be available at the following location:

Picking up for a friend? Please bring a copy of their confirmation email with you.
Event day pack pick-up
Event day pack pick-up will be available on-site for 10K participants from 7:00 AM - 8:00 AM , and for 3K participants from 8:00 AM - 9:00 AM. If you are picking up your pack on the event day, please ensure you arrive with enough time to collect your pack during this time window.

Parking
Parking is available at 20 Ashbridges Bay Park Rd Green P lot; however, availability is extremely limited and parking costs will not be covered. Participants are encouraged to use public transit on Race Day.
Baggage Check
Global Energy Race by Dempster's is happy to offer complimentary baggage check* for all race participants; however, we strongly recommend that valuable items be left at home. Bags will be tagged with the participant's bib number. To reclaim your bag, you must show your race bib.

Water/First Aid Stations
Water/First Aid Stations will be located throughout the course, at least every 2 kilometers, as well as near the Start/Finish Line. Water will be provided at each station. First Aid Stations will also be available for any participants requiring assistance. Please refer to course maps.
Washrooms
Portable washrooms are available in the event area. Public washrooms and changing facilities are also available in Ashbridges Bay Park.
Prizes
The first place male and first place female in the 10K with the best registered time will win a trip for themselves and a guest to participate in the 2020 Global Energy Race in Buenos Aires, Argentina! The prize includes a two-night, three-day stay including airfare, accommodation, and complimentary entry into the 2020 Global Energy Race in Buenos Aires.

FAQs
Are there medals?
Absolutely! All race finishers will receive a medal as they cross the finish line.
What if I am unable to participate on Race Day?
Registration fees are non-refundable; however, if you are unable to participate on race day, you can transfer your registration to another participant. Transfers must be completed by Thursday, September 19 at 11:59 p.m.

Can I wear my headphones during the race?
We encourage participants not to wear any headphones and to take in the scenic views and atmosphere. If participants choose to listen to music we ask you to keep the volume low so you are still aware of your surroundings.
Can I bring my stroller to the race?
Yes! We are encouraging families to get active together.
What family-friendly activities are available on site?
A full selection of family-friendly activities and on-stage entertainment will be available for kids of all ages.
Can I bring my dog to the race?
Yes. Dogs are allowed during the 3K walk but must be kept on a leash at all times.

Food Bank Donations
The North York Harvest Food Bank will be on-site at the Global Energy Race. They will be collecting non-perishable food items to contribute to their goal of raising 100,000 lbs of food.
Please consider bringing a non-perishable food item, such as one of the food bank’s top five needed items:
