A DeAthlon!
The 53 Strong DeAthlon 2019 will be held August 10 at Marvin Town Centre in Waxhaw, NC. The DeAngelo Williams Foundation’s “DeAthlon” event isn’t your traditional run-bike-run, it's a run-bike-FUN course. DeAthletes can choose between the 3.4 mile run and three different ride distances...not ready for both?... you can also sign up to do just the 5K or just one of the bike rides. The DeAthlon race consists of a 3.4 mile run (timed at the traditional 5K distance) followed by either a 20 bike ride, a 34 mile ride with one timed segment or a 53 mile ride with two timed segments...all with a memory game along the bike route that will test the mind, body, and sole (ya see what we did there?) The distances are accolades to DeAngelo’s jersey numbers while playing football, 34 with the Panthers and Steelers and 20 while playing for the University of Memphis Tigers
The 53 Strong DeAthlon is the creation of DeAngelo’s love-hate relationship with running and biking combined with his passion for a little fun and games.

Run
The run is a traditional 5k race that will begin at 7:00AM
Bicycle Ride
For the bicycle ride, you can choose between three different routes with the Tiger Tail 20 Mile Ride, the Carolina Cruise 34 Mile Ride or the Legacy Bike 53 Mile Ride. All three routes will start at 8:00am, will be clearly marked and will have sag support for all participants. The 34 Mile Carolina Cruise will have one rest stop location with water, electrolyte drink and goodies. The 53 Mile Legacy Bike will have two fully stocked rest stops. The 34 Mile Carolina Cruise will have one timed segment and the 53 Mile Legacy Bike will have two timed segments.
DeAthlon
The DeAthlon will be the combination of the run and the mass start bike ride distance of your choice. ALL DeAthlon finishers will receive a super sweet DeAthlon custom medal. We also have a special challenge for the 34 Mile Carolina Cruise and 53 Mile Legacy Bike DeAthlon. We will combine the time of the run and the timed segments to crown the DeAthlon champions. Top three male and female for each distance will receive a custom DeAthlon football signed and awarded by DeAngelo Williams.
What comes with registration?
All participants will receive a commemorative t-shirt if they register by August 3.
All DeAthlon finishers will receive a commemorative finisher medal but you must complete the run and ride.
Post Event
A delicious brunch served by Terrace Cafe will be served starting at 9:30am for all ride and DeAthlon participants.
Registration Policies
- There will be NO refunds for 2019 races. Up to 30 days prior to the event your entry can be transferred to the next year. A $25 transfer fee will apply.
- Entries are non-transferable.
- Race Management reserves the right to cancel or modify the event due to unfavorable conditions.
- Registration fees are not refundable in the event of cancellation due to "Acts of God".
