The Tour d'Esprit is a 24 hour running/walking event that begins on Friday, October 11th at 3pm and ends on Saturday, October 12th at 3pm. This unique event is composed of a one-mile loop that encompasses the property surrounding Holy Spirit Church and Holmes Park. Competitive running teams, marathoners, ultra-runners, recreational runners, tri-athletes, families, and health enthusiasts alike will enjoy the Tour d'Esprit.
Runners and walkers can participate in the Tour d'Esprit as part of a team or as an individual. Teams consist of a minimum of 8 and a maximum of 24 . Runners/walkers can compete as many laps as they choose, but teams are not required to have a runner/walker on the course during the entire race. Individual participants are also not required to be on the course for all 24 hours. You may come and go as you like.
All participants, individuals and team members who are on the course, will wear a time chip on his/her shoe to track the number of laps completed.
Teams and individuals with the most laps at the end of the event will win prizes in categories that are based on team composition, gender and age.
The one-mile course is comprised of part road and part dirt trail through the church property and park. The course will be well lit for the night-time portion of the race. There will be a 24 hour water station available.
In addition to the race, you will have the chance to enjoy live music by the Blackwater Trio (weather permitting), a silent auction, spaghetti dinner, and more! All registrants will receive a race shirt and goody bag. This is a wonderful event for the whole family to enjoy!
A limited number of campsites are available that can accommodate campfires. These are available on a first-come, first-served basis and at a cost of $25. Campers will be required to have a fire pit or grill to contain the fire and a 2A fire extinguisher. Campsites where campfires are not permitted will also be offered. These areas are free of charge. Please contact Sue Pearce at 901-489-9570 to reserve your site.
This event exists to raise money for the Haiti Medical Missions of Memphis (HMMoM). HMMoM staffs and stocks a medical and dental clinic and rehabilitation center in Croix-des-Bouquets, Haiti, just outside Port-au-Prince. This facility provides free services to Haitians who have nowhere else to go for medical care. Since the 2010 earthquake, the Holy Spirit Clinic has become one of the most important medical facilities in the region. The clinic also employs 39 Haitians.
