Race Beneficiary
For nearly 40 years, The Child Abuse Prevention Center has been a state, national and international service, training, advocacy and resource center dedicated to protecting children and building healthy families. Known as the CAP Center and located in Sacramento, California, it is home to five unique agencies. Each agency takes a different but complementary approach to preventing child abuse by providing an array of programs to build strong families and keep children safe. Together, our good work is making a difference.
Bishop’s Pumpkin Farm
Following your race stick around for free things to do including: hay rides, the tree house, Farmer Bill's Barn and Naspig races. Also for a nominal fee: train rides, marble mining at Coyote Mountain, Cornfield Maze, and the Sunflower Labyrinth. There are endless activities on the farm for everyone. Don’t miss the petting farm animals and finish up the day by heading home with a trunk load of carving pumpkins that you’ve picked yourself.
Courses
Much like a trail or cross country course, the surface is primarily dirt farm roads. You will be a little dusty by the time you finish this run or walk. Don't be intimidated by the farm dirt roads. There are no hills on this course. The 5K and 10k are a scenic courses that wind around two corn fields and alongside the giant pumpkin patch. You'll get a glimpse of the walnut orchards from the farm road that runs alongside the orchard. Just for good measure, you run beside a second field of carving pumpkins still on the vine, you transition to a newly harvested field which puts you in an open area for a brief bit. You'll see the corn maze in the distance. Once you see it you'll know the finish line is just ahead on the other side of the corn maze.
