LECOM Costume Caper 5K

The LECOM Costume Caper 5K Run & Walk is one of the many activities planned as part of the 2nd Annual Pittsburgh Monster Pumpkins Festival and includes tons of celebratory surprises along the course. Race along the river and finish before the goblins can get you!
Get ready, get set, get dressed in your most devilish disguise, garish garb, or kitschy clothes as you race for prizes for top costumes and top finishers. Each participant will receive a race shirt and finisher’s medal plus a swag bag full of treats. Runners will be chip-timed and will compete for special prizes for the top 100 male and top 100 female finishers. All paces including walkers are welcome and race festivities culminate with an age-bracketed kids’ spooky sprint. Bring the family for a fun filled day and celebrate the finish line feeling at the fantastic fall festival.

Costume Caper Kids' Spooky Sprint Closed
Kids' Spooky Sprint Distances (by age): 100 Meters (3-4 years old) 200 Meters (5-6 years old) 400 Meters (7-9 Years old) 800 Meters (10-12 Years Old). Children 12 and Under registering for the 5K are also invited to participate in the Kids' Spooky Sprint at no charge, they will not need to register for the Kids' Sprint separately.

Want to sprint around your neighborhood in costume and earn the official race bling? Register for the Villainous Virtual Race and earn your finisher's medal anywhere! Register by October 11th to receive your race packet prior to October 19th.

Prizes
Runners and walkers can both compete for prizes in the following categories:
- Overall Top Finisher (Male and Female)
- Scariest Costume (Male and Female)
- Funniest Costume (Male and Female)
- Most Original Costume (Male and Female)
These top prizes will be awarded a beautiful blown glass pumpkin provided by Vessel Studio Glass
Top 100 Male and Female Finishers will also be awarded a commemorative glass pumpkin from Vessel Studio
All finishers will receive a race medal and pumpkin cake pop from Bella Christie Sweet Boutique at the finish line!
Race Course
The race course starts at North Shore River Front Park at the Tribute to Children statue and is an out and back 5K on the Three Rivers Heritage Trail. Water stops will be available along the course, as well as a few fall themed surprises and attractions from the Monster Pumpkins Festival.
Weather Cancellation Policy
We value runner safety. In the event of severe weather conditions, the director(s) reserve the right to cancel the race for the safety of its participants. Registrations cancelled due to inclement weather will not be refunded, but instead used to cover event costs, with the balance being treated as a charitable donation to the event beneficiary.
Conditions that may result in event cancellation include (but are not limited to): lightning, high winds, flooding, fires, and other acts of God.
