The Immigration Project

Raise money for The Immigration Project

The Immigration Project is the principal provider of non-profit immigration legal services in central and southern Illinois, and the only downstate nonprofit with dedicated immigration attorneys on staff. Our organization provides high quality, low-cost legal assistance and information to immigrants and their families across the 86 Illinois counties south of I-80.

We serve immigrants that live in communities across a large geographic region—approximately 120,000 square miles. To bridge the geographic gap, we conduct regional clinics and information sessions across the state and regularly schedule remote consultations. Our work provides immigrants across this area access to specialized legal help with qualified, Spanish-speaking immigration attorneys and professionals.

During this time of legal changes and social tensions, our services are needed more than ever. Most of our clients can not afford private attorneys, and unlike criminal court, immigration court does not guarantee the right to counsel or provide public defenders. For many of our clients, we are their only means of legal representation, and right now there are far more immigrants who need our help than our staff can represent. Your support will help us extend our services to more clients, as well as improve language access for clients who speak of languages other than English and Spanish.

Help us ensure that our community members can get the legal support they need!
