We're super stoked to be joining the DION Ontario Snowshoe Running Series for 2020. We will be offering 4k and 8k distances and will be hosting our event at the beautiful Mountsberg Conservation Area in Milton, ON.
This is a great event for not only experienced snowshoe enthusiasts but also for those who would like to give the sport a try for the first time. Most people are able to pick up snowshoe running/hiking very quickly. In fact, the Race Director also tried snowshoe running for the first time at one of the snowshoe races in this series.
We have secured an indoor location to host race-kit pick-up as well as to do post race prizing. One lucky winner will walk away with a new pair of DION snowshoes! We will be providing hot beverages after the event so stick around, enjoy a hot drink, and maybe you will leave with a prize!
All participants will receive a custom race mug, which they can use after the race to fill with hot soup. Race finishers will also receive a pretty awesome finisher medal.
There is A LOT to do at the Mountsberg Conservation Area. While you are there, make you you check out all of the birds of prey at the Raptors Centre. You can also hang out with the animals in the barn or bring the kids to play in the play barn. As always, the Nature Centre will have lots of cool stuff to see as well. Bring warm clothes to change into after the race so that you can enjoy all that the Conservation Area has to offer.
Race Course- The course will take place on a 4km loop. 8km participants will complete the loop twice. Race distances are approximate and the exact distances and race routes will be announced closer to the race. This will depend on the trail conditions as we want to make sure that we offer our participants the best experience possible!
If, in the unlikely chance that there isn't enough snow for snowshoe racing, the race will happen as a trail race and snowshoes won't be necessary.
We have a limited number of Dion Snowshoes available for rent at checkout and we expect our rental pairs to go quickly. We will do our best to announce when the snowshoes are all spoken for. If, when registering, you are able to reserve a pair, that means there are still snowshoes available. The rental cost is $10.00, which goes directly towards maintaining the fleet of snowshoes and making sure they are in tip-top shape.

DION ONTARIO SNOWSHOE RUNNING SERIES:
Each racers top three finishes will count towards the series with the lowest point total being declared the winner. The first place male and female winner of the Dion Ontario Snowshoe Running Series will each win a pair of top-of-the-line Dion running snowshoes at the conclusion of the series. We will also be randomly drawing for a free pair of Dion Snowshoes and additional prizes at each race in the Dion Ontario Snowshoe Running Series. You must be at awards ceremony to win!
RACE FOR FREE!
You can have your race registration fee refunded if you raise $125 for 'Out of the Cold', which is a crucial service that allows residents in Hamilton, ON to escape the frigid temperatures and receive a free hot meal. As you are aware, Canadian winters can be a real challenge for those that do not have access to all of the human needs. Please consider making a small donation to this incredible organization where a few dollars can go a long way.
Refund Policy:
Happy Trails Racing has a new policy regarding race refunds/transfers: register with confidence knowing that you can take advantage of our early bird pricing and, if you need to back out, you can do so up to 30 days before the race with a 100% race credit that can go towards any future Happy Trails event. It doesn't expire. From 30 days out to 15 days out, you can back out with a 50% race credit. Participants are also welcome to transfer their bib without any penalty up to 15 days before the race. Please keep in mind that everything we need to order to have you at our race is done so at least 30 days out.
