My Story…

My son Kiran was diagnosed with Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA) in Oct 2017 at 20 months old. It's a chronic condition with no cure. He received steroid injections in his joints in Nov 2017. We're SO lucky to say he’s had no symptoms ever since! We discovered Cassie and Friends, a charity that helps kids with juvenile arthritis. We’ve now attended 3 of their incredible Family Day events. Rheumatologists gave talks on various treatments, and you meet other families in the same boat. We were so excited to help organize the first Calgary Family Day this year, until COVID-19 hit. Next year! It’s likely just a matter of time until Kiran’s arthritis comes back. That said, every year without symptoms improves his odds. In the last year, he’s started to zoom on his scooter and is learning to ride a bike. Every dollar raised goes directly to helping out kids with JIA in Calgary. We know it’s a difficult time with a global pandemic and many people losing their jobs.

Cassie + Friends Society is an organization 100% focused on transforming the lives of kids and families affected by Juvenile Arthritis and other rheumatic diseases. In 2019, our team broke a new record with over 350 runners raising an incredible $360,000 in support of a pain-free future for kids.

Join us on Team Cassie + Friends as we virtually run/walk to raise awareness and funds for JA research, education, equipment and support.

100% of the funds raised by Team Cassie + Friends go to our mission of transforming kids and families lives through research, awareness, connection and support. More specifically, your participation will go towards our annual Family Days, Teen Groups, school resources, equipment cupboards/family funds, advocacy and research.

In collaboration with our Charity Challenge Team in Vancouver and nationwide participants, our goal is to collectively raise $240,000.
