My Story…
Hi. I’m Nikki Porter, the Executive Director of Epilepsy Ottawa, and I’m training to walk the 10k for the Scotiabank Charity Challenge in the virtual Ottawa Race Weekend.
My goal is to raise $1,000 while I train to walk the 10k in support of Epilepsy Ottawa. I’m aiming to do the full 10k in under 2 hours by the first week of July.
I’m walking in support of Epilepsy Ottawa because, like all charities, we’re facing major fundraising challenges this year. Epilepsy Ottawa has grown quite a lot in the last few years. We provide more programs and reach more people with epilepsy than ever before. And we’re still providing services throughout this state of emergency. I want to do whatever I can so we don’t lose momentum and we can continue providing our much needed services throughout 2020 and beyond.
Description
Help us create a community where people affected by epilepsy are empowered and supported to live life to the fullest, free of stigma and barriers.
There are nearly 10,000 people with epilepsy in Ottawa and the surrounding regions. It’s a diagnosis that impacts the entire family.
Epilepsy Ottawa is the only community epilepsy agency in Eastern Ontario providing support, advocacy, and education services for people with epilepsy and their families.
