ABOUT THE SMOKY MOUNTAIN RELAY
Registration is capped at:
50 ~ 200-mile teams (36 transitions)
&
20 ~ 135-mile teams (24 transitions)
A scenic, wild, team adventure in the mountains of Western North Carolina, the Smoky Mountain Relay is an adventure that is not to be missed.
This course will challenge you and your friends with tough legs and reward you with stories to last a lifetime.
Choose from the original 200-mile course or the 135-mile course.
The 200-mile course begins at the Pink Beds Trail Loop picnic area just outside of Brevard, NC in the Pisgah National Forest.
Teams of 12 or “ultra” teams of 6 make their way through 36 legs and finish at the Nantahala Outdoor Center in Bryson City, NC.
The 135-mile course begins at the Jackson Country Recreation Complex in Cullowhee, NC. Teams of 8 or “ultra” teams of 4 make their way through 24 legs and also finish at the Nantahala Outdoor Center in Bryson City, NC in the heart of the Nantahala National Forest.
Each relay team member runs between 3 and 6 legs (depending on the course chosen and the number of team members running) of varying lengths and difficulty and will cover an average total distance of 18-20 miles (for the 200 mile race).
About the Cost of the Race
What this registration fee includes:
- 200 or 135 miles and 30+ hours of racing on permitted, marked course, including traffic control signs, runner on road signs, directional signs and trail marking through Western North Carolina’s most beautiful scenery
- Medical staff and on-course ambulances to assist runners as necessary
- Finisher’s race shirts and medals
- Color printed race bibles and maps provided at check-in
- Personalized race bibs
- Professional timing
- Finish line party with a finisher’s meal, live music, and a free pint and race pint glass from our fabulous beer sponsor
Registration is open to the first 100 teams who register.
Refund Policy:
Smoky Mountain Relay has a NO REFUND policy. Please note that we do not offer any refunds or discount codes if you cancel your registration for this event, except in the case where the max number of allowed teams has been reached and there is a waiting list.
Transfer Policy:
Smoky Mountain Relay has a NO TRANSFER policy. A new captain can be designated from within the team roster up to 10 days before race weekend.
