Description
Special Olympics Nova Scotia is committed to enriching the lives of Nova Scotians with an intellectual disability through sport. Founded in 1968, Special Olympics strives to create a better world by fostering the acceptance and inclusion of all people. One out of three Nova Scotians lives with a disability and our goal is to reach out to every one of them and their families. Special Olympics does this through a wide range of training, competitions, health screenings, and fundraising events. We also create opportunities for families, community members, local leaders, businesses, law enforcement, celebrities, dignitaries and others to band together to change attitudes and support athletes. Our vision is that sport will open hearts and minds towards people with intellectual disabilities and create inclusive communities all over the world.
Athletes, families, friends, and members of the general community will lace up to run the Bluenose Marathon in support of Special Olympics Nova Scotia. Athletes groups will use this opportunity to raise much-needed funds for their specific sport.
