Participants,

As you may have heard, universities, businesses, and communities are taking measures to prevent the spread of illness and plan for a potential outbreak, especially when it comes to the Coronavirus.

The following was sent out by Chi Omega Nationals this afternoon: "Health officials and MJ Insurance, Chi Omega’s insurance company, recommend as a general best practice during this time that organizations consider suspending large events."

In light of the CDC, Chi Omega, and campus recommendations, we will be canceling the Run for a Wish 5k that is scheduled for, March 13th.

At this time, we are converting to a Virtual 5k. We would love for everyone to still participate in their own 5k in the morning to show their support to the Make-A-Wish foundation. We would love for you to post your pictures using the hashtag #RunForAWishVirtual5k to social media platforms. In addition to this, you will be allowed to enter your Virtual 5k time.

- You can complete the Virtual 5k between now and March 19th.

- Click https://raceroster.com/dashboard/participants/25452

- Under the Registration heading select the box that says “Edit registration”

- Enter your finishing time in the appropriate format (H:MM:SS)

- The Virtual 5k will be on an honor system. Please only provide your true and accurate time.

- Your result will be reviewed and posted to the official race results within 24 hours following the close of the Virtual race submission deadline.

We will still be granting a wish for a child in the morning thanks to you! The wish will be LIVE at 9:30 am on the Arkansas State Chi Omega Facebook page as well as our instagram, @astatechio. We would love for all of you to join us!

Shirts and bags will be available for pick-up at a later date and time when we are given permission by the university to do so. An email will be sent with the place, date, and time as soon as we can do this.

We know that Make-A-Wish truly appreciates your participation and support for this wonderful cause. If you would like a refund, requests will be accepted until Friday, March 20th at 11:59 pm. You will need to e-mail astatechiorunforawish5k@gmail.com stating your name and your request. Any participants who receive their refund will not receive a shirt and bag.

RUN FOR A WISH 5K

Hosted by the Chi Omega Sorority at Arkansas State University

Welcome and thank you for supporting this amazing cause! The Run for a Wish 5k is to raise funds for Make-A-Wish Midsouth and to grant wishes to local children with life threatening illnesses. This will be our 12th annual event and will be held on the ASU campus.

The Omicron Zeta chapter and their alumnae are dedicated to Make-A-Wish and helping the community. We are lucky enough to get to be a part of an amazing foundation that brings joy to local children. Please help us raise money for wishes and dreams, so they might come true!
