This year's recipients will be Minnie's Food Pantry, Rock Teen Foundation, and
Pat & Emmitt Smith Charities Back to School Program
Minnie's Food Pantry is the leading food pantry in North Texas with a mission to provide healthy meals, educational resources and red-carpet treatment to every person that we serve. Over the last 12 years, Minnie's Food Pantry has provided over 11 million meals to low income/food insecure families, with over 1.4 million meals distributed to 61,293 individuals in 2019 alone! Minnie's Food Pantry is 100% community funded and every dollar donated provided 3 meals to families in need.
Today’s teens face innumerable challenges - and they can better meet those challenges by using the principles of personal development, goal setting, dream building, time management and a sense of purpose. RockTeen Youth foundation leverages peer mentorship to motivate kids and keep them off the streets and out of gangs. RockTeen participants learn how to build themselves up and prepare for the workforce - moving beyond their constrictive environments and towards lifelong success.
Each August Pat & Emmitt Smith Charities partners with the Dallas Independent School District to serve its most underprivileged at-risk children and families by providing new school uniforms, fresh fruits and vegetables for each family, children’s books, dental screenings and more. To date, 13,000 families in the Dallas community have received the benefits made possible by partner donations. Thanks to Pat & Emmitt Smith Charities’ partners, we have been able to provide these services and more for $18 per child. Imagine what your contribution can do. Please join us in helping the children in Dallas Independent School District start their school year on a high note, with the support of TEAM 22 Cycling behind them.
Fundraising Requirements
Thank You for registering to the 2020 Emmitt Smith Gran Fondo. This year marks a new beginning and a remarkable fundraising year.
This year’s event is a 100% fully supported charity ride, to raise funds for children in our community in need of mentor-ship, school supplies and food. During registration you will learn about each of these programs and given the choice of where your dollars will go and each registrant is required to fund-raise $150. If you go above and beyond the $150, you’ll get some amazing benefits with Emmitt Smith.
After registration you’ll receive an email with a link to set up your fundraising page so you can ask for support or you can make the donation on your own.
If you haven’t met the required donation of $150 by August 22, 2020, you will be reminded of the obligation then billed for the remainder of the balance.
A Note from Emmitt
Did you know that 1 in 5 children in North Texas lives in poverty? Have inadequate food and nutrition? Live without healthcare? And That Nearly 30,000 third graders are reading below grade level, a powerful indicator of high school graduation.
Almost thirty percent of children in our community living in poverty? I asked myself, “What can you do about it?” NOW, friends, I’m asking you, too. I was blessed to have people who cared about me and believed in me to help me achieve my potential – will you be that person for kids who need to be lifted up? I’m dedicated to using my platform and my time to help our youngest neighbors – here in North Dallas. And, I need everyone to step up and join TEAM 22 - the official fundraising program of the Emmitt Smith Gran Fondo.
I firmly believe that to whom much is given, much is required and humbly try to live by that mantra. I am personally motivated to help kids who don’t have access to the things we take for granted. Think about it – they can maybe see the skyscrapers in downtown Dallas, but to them, that might as well be a world away. Will you join me in lifting these kids? Will you join me in showing them how much their TEXAS neighbors and friends from across the U.S. care?
This year, the Emmitt Smith Gran Fondo TEAM 22 fundraising program is getting a reboot! Our partners at OneShare Health are underwriting your registration, so now any ride is just $22 and in return, we are asking that you raise $150 for kids in our community. We’ve selected three partners to support - with three amazing programs that we know are changing kids’ lives: Minnie’s Food Pantry, RockTeen Youth Foundation and the Pat & Emmitt Smith Charities Back to School program. And when you raise money, you are supporting our future and you get great swag from us!
