Raise money for Tyler's Camp
Tyler's Camp. The Summer Learning Collaborative's Tyler’s Camp offers Delaware's low-income middle-school students a chance to explore new ideas and uncover unknown talents. Campers select from a suite of music, technology, sports and arts opportunities, coupled with daily engagement with leadership development, STEAM-based curriculum, and literacy instruction. In 2017, we offered over 250 campers from across Wilmington four weeks of access to extraordinary summer experiences, all free of charge.
Held at the Salesianum School, which generously donates its campus and facilities, Tyler's Camp was founded in memory of Tyler Richie Brown, who was killed in a car accident in March 2016 while a senior at Salesianum. Tyler was the epitome of a modern-day Renaissance man. He explored, tried, succeeded, and sometimes failed, but he never failed to try again. In his spirit, we built this program to increase access to creative arts, performing arts, and athletics programs for low income kids in our city.
Tyler's legacy and impact continue to grow, as SummerCollab has now established Tyler's Camps in Sussex County, Delaware, and plans to expand the network further across our state and region in coming years. We are honored to continue to our work in Tyler's memory, and thank all of our supporters and partners for their commitment to Tyler's Camps and Delaware's kids.
