The 2020 race benefits The Parrish Foundation, Manatee County Youth Rowing, and Parrish Community High School Athletic Boosters. These 3 community organizations have a mission to bring together our community and support local businesses. The Fort Hamer Bridge represents a bridge to the heart of our community, and the benefitting organizations are proud to connect local runners to the businesses that make up and support our community.
- Join us for the 4th Annual Fort Hamer Bridge Run. This healthy, family-oriented event features a 5k run and 5k walk over the Fort Hamer Bridge, or a virtual run! Participants can opt to run live on race day or participate virtually and run anywhere. The 5K runners and walkers will traverse over the 4,544 foot Fort Hamer Bridge into the Waterlefe subdivision to their signature circle, and then back over the bridge. The 5K run AND walk finishes at the Fort Hamer County Park. Finishers will be awarded a commemorative medal at the finish line.
To ensure social distancing and runner safety, runners will select their scheduled start time from pre-determined time blocks from 6am-9am. Starting time blocks will be capped, so register early to secure your preferred start time!
Race day registration and packet pick up will NOT be available, please plan ahead accordingly.

Weather Cancellation Policy
We value runner safety. In the event of severe weather conditions or other public safety concerns, the director(s) reserve the right to cancel the race for the safety of its participants. Registrations cancelled due to inclement weather will not be refunded, but instead used to cover event costs, with the balance being treated as a charitable donation to the event beneficiary.
Conditions that may result in event cancellation include (but are not limited to): lightning, high winds, flooding, fires, and other acts of God. In the event the live event cannot be held participants will be transferred to the virtual event.

What if I can’t make it to Packet Pick Up? Can a friend pick up for me?
Someone else may pick up your race packet if you did not opt to have it shipped. Please send them your confirmation email so they have verification for pick up.
If I opted to have my packet shipped when will it arrive?
Packets will ship out via FedEx 2 day on or before November 2nd or 3rd.

Can I register on race day?
NO. There will not be registration or packet pick up on race day. You may register and pick up at any of the 3 packet pickups.
Is there a Kids Race?
While there is not an age bracketed Kids Race, all kids 18 and under can register for the 5K for just $20. No code is needed, discount will be applied based on participant date of birth.
Where do I park?
Parking is not available at Fort Hamer Park. Parking is available at Parrish Community High School, with bus transportation to the starting line. The buses to the starting line will begin at 5:30AM
Please arrive at the parking lot 45-60 minutes prior to your assigned start time. You will be directed to load the shuttle bus 30-45 minutes before your assigned start time.

Is the 5K chip-timed?
Yes! This event has a chip-timed start and finish. Each bib will have two timing chips affixed on the back - please do NOT tamper with or remove these chips! In order to ensure accurate results, please make sure you are wearing your bib front and center and uncovered by clothing or other items.
Results will be posted at https://www.fit2run.com/race-results after the race. If you have an issue with your chip time and believe there are misreads please see the timing booth on race day or email fit2time@fit2run.com.
What could I win?
The overall top male and female finishers and masters male and female finishers will win a trophy. 1st place age group award winners will receive a plaque. Once results are finalized awards will be announced via social media and email and winners may pick up their prizes at Fit2Run UTC.
Also, gift cards for local businesses in the Parrish, Bradenton and Lakewood Ranch communities, sponsored by Leslie Wells Realty, will be raffled off to 100 participants. Winners will be contacted via email. Virtual runners are not eligible for age group awards, but are eligible for raffle prizes.
What about the race course?
The race will start just outside the River Wilderness Subdivision, next to Fort Hamer Park. The 5K runners and walkers will traverse over the 4,544 foot Fort Hamer Bridge into the Waterlefe subdivision to their signature circle, and then back over the bridge. The 5K run AND walk finishes at the Fort Hamer County Park.
Final course map will be posted on the registration site.
Is there anything planned for after the race?
In order to maintain guidelines on social distancing there will not be an after party post-race this year. Buses will continuously be running to transport finishers back to the parking area at PCHS. We invite all runners to connect digitally via our Facebook and Instagram pages and tag us in your race day photos!
Are spectators allowed at the race?
Spectators are not allowed at the park, in order to maintain capacity guidelines for runners. Participants must have a bib to gain access to the buses transporting runners to and from the parking area at PCHS
What procedures are in place to ensure runner safety?
- Face coverings must be worn prior to start and after finishing the race.
- Water stations will not be available on the course. Bottled water will be provided.
- Race Day Registration and Packet Pick Up is NOT AVAILABLE.
- Participants are asked to observe physical distancing and keep 6 feet apart from participants not in your household. Hand sanitizing stations will be available.
- If you have a fever or are have experienced other symptoms of COVID-19 within the last 48 hours, please be respectful of the safety of others and do not attend the event. If you have tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 14 days please do not attend.
- There is a separate start and finish line for this race. After you finish your race please do not congregate in groups. Race results will be posted online and participants will be notified via email when results are official. Age group winners will be announced via email and awards can be picked up at Fit2Run UTC Sunday November 8th-November 30th. Awards will not be mailed.
What if it rains?
The event is taking place rain or shine. In the event of lightning or hazardous conditions the start time may be delayed or cancelled. Should the event be cancelled we will consider your registration fee a donation to Manatee County Youth Rowing, The Parrish Foundation and PCHS Athletic Boosters. If there are poor weather conditions, please check the race website and Facebook page for updates.
Are strollers and pets allowed in the race?
Yes! Strollers and dogs on 6’ non-retractable leashes are welcome. Dogs are not allowed on the shuttle bus.
Where can I use the restrooms?
Port-a-lets will be on site at the parking area and park restrooms will be available for runners.
Is there a bag drop?
There is not a bag drop. Fort Hamer Bridge Run, it’s beneficiaries and Fit2Run and Fit2Time are not responsible for any runner belongings left behind.
Are there water stops along the 5K course?
In order to minimize contact points in this event there will not be any water stops on the course. Bottled water will be available at the start and finish line.
