COVID-19 Update: Race Cancellation
Hello Mermaid Athletes,
We hope everyone is staying healthy and safe during these challenging times with the Coronavirus pandemic. It is with heavy hearts that we are cancelling the T9 Mermaid Run East Bay, however we’ve done our best (outlined below) to come up with as many possibilities for a deferral, future race credit or the option of participating in our Virtual Run to celebrate our strength, resilience and Mermazing community of athletes on Saturday, June 20th. [T9 Mermazing Virtual Run]
Along with these options, we’ve included a link to your Race Roster Athlete Dashboard where you can quickly “Edit” your registration and choose the option that works best for you. This is the quickest way for you to choose and for us to track everyone’s request. As always, if you want to reach out to us directly feel free to email us at: info@mermaidseries.com. Please read through our FAQ below for answers to many of your questions.
================
Participant Options (Please choose by May 25th):
All registered participants can choose from the following options:
1. Request a future deferral to the 2021, 2022 or 2023 T9 Mermaid Run East Bay. The deferral is good for the SAME distance that you registered for in 2020
2. Request a future race credit good for the dollar amount of your entry fee that you can apply to a future Mermaid Series event. The race credit can be applied to any future 2020, 2021, 2022 or 2023 event.
3. Switch your entry to the Mermazing Virtual Run and you'll receive an awesome race shirt, medal, necklace & bib number. Then run with the Mermaid Community on June 20th! If you paid more than the Virtual Run at East Bay you will also get a future credit per the following:
- 5K & Virtual Runners (same price) = no future credit
- 10K = $5 credit
- Half = $15 credit
- Sirena18 = $25 credit
- Dash = no credit, but we will send the medal & necklace for the upcoming Mermazing Virtual Run. Note: T-shirts are not included in the Dash entry

What is the T9 Mermazing Virtual Run:
Due to the Coronavirus, we’ve had to cancel both the T9 Mermaid Run East Bay and the T9 Mermaid Run Spokane. The virtual run is an opportunity for the entire Mermaid community to come together to share, inspire, laugh and motivate each other. Signing up for the virtual run WILL give you something to look forward to, it WILL be fun, you WILL get awesome swag and best of all, it WILL give us a chance to come TOGETHER as a virtual community! If you switch to the virtual run you'll receive a stylish race shirt, finisher medal & necklace and a personalized bib number.
Hang in there, stay healthy and we hope to see you soon!
Thanks,
Carlo Facchino
Owner & Race Director

How do I go about receiving my future race credit or deferral?
We will email you the details with your future race credit or deferral code within a week of you choosing your option.
If I choose to switch to the T9 Mermazing Virtual Run, how do I know I’m entered?
You will receive an email confirmation once we’ve switched you to the T9 Mermazing Virtual Run. If you registered for the 10K, Half or Sirena18 we will send you an additional email with the additional future race credit code.
What if I was already registered for the virtual run for East Bay?
Since we are cancelling the physical event we are also cancelling the virtual option for East Bay. We hope you will transfer to the T9 Mermazing Virtual Run, however you can still request a deferral or future race credit if you prefer.
How does this impact the POD participants?
Participants who are completing the POD Challenge will now need to participate in the T9 Mermazing Virtual Run. As a POD member, you would have been signed up for both East Bay and Spokane, you will need to change one of the entries to the T9 Mermazing Virtual Run and then either choose to defer or receive a future race credit for other event. If you were completing the in-person POD Challenge you will keep your in-person status even though you are doing the T9 Mermazing Run virtually.
I registered my daughter or son for the Dash, what do I do with their entry?
You can request a deferral or future race credit for their entry OR you can switch them to the T9 Mermazing Virtual Run and we’ll mail them the medal, necklace and bib number.
What if I purchased a youth shirt with the Dash registration?
If you were registered for the dash and ordered a shirt with your registration, you will have the option to move your registration and shirt order to the T9 Mermazing Virtual Run or you can request a deferral or future race credit.
What if I am unable to run on June 20th, but I want to support the Mermaid community and be a part of the T9 Mermazing Run?
No worries, if you can’t run on the 20th you’ll have 7 days to complete your virtual run.
If I do not want to do the virtual or receive a deferral / future race credit, can I just get a refund?
Unfortunately we are unable to give refunds per our cancellation and refund policy. To preserve the dollar amount of your entry fee we are only able to offer it as a deferral or future race credit. Many of the expenses leading up to the race have already been paid for, thus making it impossible to give refunds. Our policy for event cancellation, refunds, and future race credits is stated on the event waiver as well as posted on our website. [Participant Waiver]
