My Story…
In 2019, I was diagnosed with an NF related brain tumour. I remained stable for a while. However, At the start end of May 2019, I started to feel very unwell. I lost a tremendous amount of physical strength, was experiencing excruciating daily headaches, I was very dizzy & woozy and I was also very tired. These symptoms all hit very quickly, I went from feeling normal, to like this in about 10 days. What transpired was discovering that my tumour was growing. I found out that I'd need to start radiation therapy as soon as possible to hopefully halt the growth of the tumour. So, starting July 10th, 2019, I began six weeks (30 treatments) of radiation therapy, finishing on August 22nd, 2019. It was the hardest 6 weeks of my life. But I made it through. Since then, I've received two stable MRIs, which means that my tumour is not growing.
But, my hope is for a future without NF, so this never has to happen to anyone else. Donations, can help find a cure and support NF patients.
Description
With no cure for this genetic disorder, your help and support are needed to not only fundraise, but also to create awareness. By fundraising for the Tumour Foundation, you and your family and friends will have a direct impact on improving the care for the children battling NF across BC. As a team member you will receive cool t-shirts, and other fundraising prizes. We kick off the event with a pasta party which is a great chance to meet the entire team before race day!
We are always stronger together!
