My Story…
This is my 4th year running Scotia Half Marathon in a virtual race and fundraising for WAVAW Rape Crisis Centre.
Why is it so important for me to fundraise for WAVAW Rape Crisis Centre? Let me share why I feel so strongly in supporting this non-profit organization in Vancouver, BC, Canada.
WAVAW is a feminist, anti-oppressive, decolonizing rape crisis centre operating on Unceded Coast Salish Territories.
They provide support services to survivors of sexualized violence who have shared experiences of gender marginalization: Cis and trans women, Two-Spirit, trans and/or non-binary people.
WAVAW advocates for social and systemic change through education, outreach and activism. WAVAW provides 1:1 counselling, supports survivors with hospital, police, and court accompaniments, and 24-hr crisis line support, ALL SERVICES FREE OF CHARGE.
Shift society and stand with survivors. 100% of your donations go directly to supporting survivors. Tax receipts are available to all donations $25+
Description
By choosing to participate you immediately join WAVAW’s community of supporters and will have access to runner events, fundraising prizes, WAVAW swag, and fundraising supports such as e-mail and social media text templates.
You will also be connecting members of your network to a cause you care deeply about by inviting them to step up in support of survivors by donating. By building an active community of support, you will be encouraging more people to join the movement to create a free from gendered violence.
