The Spirit of Benny 10K/5K Fun Run and Walk is a family friendly fundraiser supporting non-profit organizations who help seriously ill children and their families in El Dorado County, CA. Proceeds will first go to Make-A-Wish®, whose mission is to create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. Funds exceeding $10K will be dispersed between two additional non-profit organizations as follows. Give Kids The World®, is a nonprofit organization that exists only to fulfill the wishes of all children with life-threatening illnesses and their families to experience a memorable, joyful, cost-free visit to the Central Florida attractions, and to enjoy the magic of Give Kids The World Village. Sweet Dreams Foundation®'s mission is to improve the quality of life for children who been diagnosed with a life-threatening disease through the creation of their dream bedroom. All monies donated go to residents of El Dorado County.
The staging area and race begin at the El Dorado Trail @ Clay St. in Downtown Placerville(Farmers Market site) and continues onto the scenic El Dorado Trail. The first half starts flat and begins an upward ascent when you pass the bus station on Mosquito Road as you continue on El Doardo Trail towards Jacquier. The 5K turnaround will be before you get to Jacquier at the 1st water table, with the 10K turnaround up .4 miles beyond Jacquier, still on El Dorado Trail at the 2nd water table and back down. The 10K runners begin at 9am the 5K runners at 9:15am and all walkers will follow the runners from the course they choose.
Please note that this year there will be PAID parking at the various City of Placerville parking lots and structure in Downtown Placerville. The closest lot to the race expo is at the corner of Main Street and Clay Street, with another lot across the street, between Cozmic Cafe and Tortilla Flats Restaurant.
Race packets will be available on Friday March 20th, 2020 at Gold Country Run+Sport: 4370 Town Center Drive, Suite 150, El Dorado Hills, CA. 95672 from 3pm-7pm. Registered participants may pick-up packets on Race Day from 8am-9am.
We encourage you to create teams of a minimum of 10 participants, for all your friends and family to join in on the fun with you! The first person to register will create a team name and then all who follow will select that team name when registering. As long as you reach the minimum of 10 participants, you will each get your team name printed on the back of your tee. The team with the most participants will win a "team lounge"(pop-ups w tables, chairs & refreshments for your team only).
Gold Country Run+Sport Gift Cards and ribbons with medals for top male and female finishers as well as ribbons for top finishers by age categories. We will also provide all registered participants with short sleeve tech tees and goody bags. This year we will be featuring The Dinner Station Truck selling tasty breakfast foods, Caffe Santoro's Coffee with Personality and a mini expo with sponsor tents. This race is timed by Capital Road Race Management who will also have a kiosk with laptops to check your time. Come run or walk with us and enjoy our quaint downtown, visit Apple Hill or our local wineries after the run!
