My Story…

Hello, This is will be my first time walking in the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon, which is possible due to the marathon being virtual. I am really excited to the able to actively participate in helping to raise funds for my organization, North York Community House (NYCH). I will be doing the 5k walk over a period of two days in October. I hope that you will join me in supporting NYCH by making a pledge to my page. Thank you for your support.

Description

Newcomers and their families face numerous barriers to starting their new lives here in Canada. Your kindness will create opportunities for them to settle successfully, thrive in their new settings and become leaders in the community.

Every year, over 20,000 people will come through our doors to access the programs and services we offer. Through generous donations like yours, new immigrants and refugees will receive free, one-on-one settlement help; immigrant professionals will develop their skills for workplace success; newcomer youth will feel more welcome in their new schools; families in under-resourced neighbourhoods will be encouraged to get active and stay healthy.

All funds raised by NYCH through the 2020 Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon will support innovative children, youth, and family programs – providing opportunities for residents in northwest Toronto to gain confidence, build skills, and lead positive change in their neighbourhoods.
