My Story…
One of my memories that I have of my summers was going to work with my mom because no one could babysit me. I always sat to the side and tried to not cause any ruckus but I was SO bored. This is one of the reasons why I love urban promise toronto (UPT) so much. UPT works in the Toronto Community Housing neighbourhoods with programs throughout the year. They are FOR the community and BY the community. They raise leaders in the community that mentors the kids from their community. As you can imagine having affordable after school and summer programs for kids is vital. This is what I didn't have but I hope you'll donate and support me, so that these programs are offered :)
My goal was to raise $330, to represent the end of a school day but I am always blown away by the generosity of my community. Thank you in advance for your heart. I promise baked goods will come your way. Can we surpass my initial goal?
Description
Children living in Toronto Community Housing want what any kid wants...
>To be known, accepted and valued.
>To become just like their role models.
>To dream.
They're up against some tough realities...
>material poverty
>lack of resources
>destructive cycles
>broken families
>lure of drugs
>threat of violence
Which can make them feel unworthy, defeated, angry, hopeless.
BUT EVERYONE SHOULD HAVE HOPE, AND EVERYONE SHOULD HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO KNOW JESUS-THE AUTHOR OF HOPE ITSELF.
Join The Run for Promise Team - Raise funds supporting programs where children are known, accepted and valued by positive role models, providing opportunities to dream.
