For participating in Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon Virtual Race 2020

My Story…

I can’t wait to participate in Run For Promise 2020, in the Virtual Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon. I will be part of the 10km race, hopefully running most of the way! I will complete the 10km on the 28th of October. This years event is special since it is virtual, meaning I don’t have to be in Toronto to take part and have the opportunity to be a ‘champion’ for children and youth living in Toronto Community Housing, while running in Northern Ireland. All donations will go to the amazing non-profit organisation, UrbanPromise Toronto. Donations can be received until the end of October. I served with UrbanPromise Toronto from September 2019-March 2020. I had the privilege of seeing the positive influence the ministry of UrbanPromise has on children and youth living in Toronto Community Housing. UrbanPromise is really special as they play a big part of the everyday lives of these young people, being an established part of many communities and growing in others.

Description

Children living in Toronto Community Housing want what any kid wants...

>To be known, accepted and valued.

>To become just like their role models.

>To dream.

They're up against some tough realities...

>material poverty

>lack of resources

>destructive cycles

>broken families

>lure of drugs

>threat of violence

Which can make them feel unworthy, defeated, angry, hopeless.

BUT EVERYONE SHOULD HAVE HOPE, AND EVERYONE SHOULD HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO KNOW JESUS-THE AUTHOR OF HOPE ITSELF.

Join The Run for Promise Team - Raise funds supporting programs where children are known, accepted and valued by positive role models, providing opportunities to dream.
