My Story…
The COVID-19 pandemic has posed many challenges to us all during this time of uneasy and unpredictable unrest. Nursing homes especially are challenged due to the lack of funding and equipment provision to help protect our vulnerable elderly population from this disease. The Ukrainian Canadian Care Centre (UCCC) needs funds over what it receives from the government to maintain its level of care. I will be participating alongside members of the UCCC community in the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon (virtual) 5K walk/run to fundraise for protective equipment as well as hospital overbed tables (as during an outbreak residents are isolated to their rooms including during meals). Our seniors need us now more than ever to help protect them.

The Ukrainian Canadian Care Centre is dedicated to serving the needs of seniors and meeting the demands of a growing senior population with care and compassion. We take care of frail seniors, faced with multiple health issues, including Alzheimer’s and other dementias. We run a social program for seniors from the community, helping them stay active and connected.
