The Great Ski Race®
Tahoe City to Truckee March 1, 2020
Usually The Great Ski Race is a 30 km cross country ski race from Tahoe City to Truckee, the largest XC ski race west of the Mississippi.
But this year we’re announcing a weather-adjusted plan for The Great Ski Race — the main fundraising event for the all-volunteer Tahoe Nordic Search and Rescue Team.
With a storm-less January and a forecast of dry weather up to race day, the Truckee end of the original course is not skiable. But fear not! We plan to bring you a never-before-raced 26K course around Mt. Watson that returns to Tahoe XC for the usual finish line party celebration (a map of the new course is at http://thegreatskirace.com/registration-form).
This completely new course has lots of varied terrain and great vistas, not to mention the usual challenges our skiers sign up for (one of them being the notoriously wildcard race-day weather).
Because of the plan change, the entrance fee will stay at $80 until Thursday, Feb. 27. We are excited to see you test this unique course. Thanks very much for supporting TNSAR as you have through the years.

The Great Ski Race® is the main fund raising event for the Tahoe Nordic Search & Rescue Team, a non-profit all-volunteer organization. Team members, along with community supporters, organize The Great Ski Race®, which continues to be one of the largest Nordic ski races west of the Mississippi. Race proceeds are used primarily to purchase equipment for the Team, and to support winter survival and avalanche education programs sponsored and conducted by the Team.
The first 500 registrants will receive a free T-shirt.

Awards are provided for overall times (men and women)
Packet Pickup
On the Friday (12:00 PM - 5:00 PM) and Saturday (9:00 AM - 5:00 PM) before the race, and Sunday (race day) up until 8:30 AM, you can pick up your pre-race package at the Tahoe Cross Country ski area.
