Save the Date!
September 18, 2021
Unfortunately, this race was postponed and despite our best efforts, we had to eventually cancel it for 2020.
As much as we tried, we never wanted to put anyone in danger and considering Myocarditis has been recognized as a complication from Covid-19, we felt it best to wait until next year. We have scheduled our 2021 race for September 18. We hope you can join us!
On the day before she was to receive her Holy Communion, Friday May 6th, 2016, we lost our daughter, Christina, to a disease called Myocarditis. We have never recovered from this loss, and I am sure we never will. As a parent, losing a child is unfathomable and each and every day we mourn our baby and question how this could happen to her? To help our grieving process and keep Christina’s spirit alive, we decided to create a non-profit organization called Operation Sweet Tooth. Our mission is to honor Christina by supporting the youth in our community. Our goal is to raise funds, toys, personal items and school supplies for the children in our community who are sick, impoverished, displaced, homeless or just need their spirits lifted.
Each year, we are looking to organize quarterly initiatives that support Operation Sweet Tooth. This is the 3rd Annual In Loving Memory of Christina Latini 8K Run and 2 Mile Walk to benefit Operation Sweet Tooth. Our hope is this race will further drive our efforts to help provide for the future of our local children. The outpouring of support we have received for Operation Sweet Tooth has been tremendous.
In the fall of 2018, we donated three automatic external defibrillators (AED’s) to the Town of Huntersville. Shortly after our race in 2019, one was used by a Good Samaritan to save a life. We have added to the emergency need by providing additional AED’s to the town. In addition, we supplied the Charlotte Lab School with and AED to protect their students and by the Spring of 2020, the Town of Cornelius will be installing several in their parks that we have donated.
Lastly, the impact we have from our initial mission of providing hope and joy to children in need continues to grow as we are asked to Co-Sponsor the Camino Church Toy Giveaway and we also partnered with the Town of Huntersville in providing gifts to the homeless.
We are small but we like to think that we are mighty in the positive impact we have in our community. We are truly honored and blessed to have all this support and that only fuels our passion to make this world a better place and make sure our children of today and tomorrow are cared for.
We know there are many race options each weekend as we head into the Spring. We hope you consider participating in our race, to honor a little girl who was full of life until her last breath, as well as support Operation Sweet Tooth to assist children in our community who are less fortunate.
