THE COURSE:
****NEW COURSE DIRECTION FOR THE 48K*****
As an ode to our friends at Comrades Ultra in South Africa, we will be switching directions every second year - last year we went counter-clockwise, 2020 we are going clockwise!! Some people say it's easier. Others say it isn't. Come and race, then you tell us which is "easier"!
This is a beautiful course with full Fall colours along the Bay of Fundy with plenty of technical and climbing to satisfy most trail runners. Breathtaking views as you head out along the course which are well worth stopping to take in the awesomeness and get some pictures (just be careful of the edges). The 16k and 24k courses will all include the ~800m climb at an average of 16 - 20% grade (with points at 27%) out of Millbrook Canyon - some say it's easier to crawl up then walk! The 48k loop around Cape Chignecto Park, has roughly 2600m of elevation! The loop may also include water crossings depending on the weather leading up to race day - so be prepared for possible wet feet. The 24k out and back has ~1500m of elevation.
*** This is not a beginner course!
CUT OFFS:
The course will be closed by 6:30pm for all participants, with 12 hour time limit for the 48k and 8.5 hour cut off for the 16k and 24k.
There are checkpoints with time cut offs for the 48k runners. TBD
MANDATORY GEAR FOR ALL PARTICIPANTS:
Toque or beanie
Cell phone with backup charger and race director's phone number
Whistle
Light water-resistant jacket
Hydration pack/vest or handhelds that can hold 1L
Headlamp for start and finish (48k only)
AID STATIONS:
There will be 3 fully stocked aid stations located at various points on the course (TBD). Aid stations will be stocked with electrolytes, water and all your favourite race foods. Be prepared to carry your nutrition and hydration for 12-14k between aid stations. We will have resealable bags at aid stations for you to carry extra should you need it.
