My Story…
The BCS Marathon was created to support the Mercy Project, a non-profit based in BCS whose mission it is to eradicate child slavery in Ghana, Africa by helping villages adopt sustainable economic development projects that will end the practice of forced child labor.
On Wednesday November 18, the directors of the BCS Marathon made the impossibly hard decision to cancel the race due to the Covid-19 pandemic. I support this decision because I think it's the safest for everyone and I think the local medical professionals have more important matters to devote their time to.
So while the race may have been cancelled, my run and hope are not. I plan to complete my marathon distance run on Saturday December 12 with the support of my family and friends but not as part of a recognized race.
As of 11/18/20, donations to the Mercy Project are down 40% from last year. 2020 is hitting us all hard, but my hope is that through running my marathon on my own, I can help raise money for this charity.
Let's provide a little hope to the Mercy Project and the beautiful people they serve in Ghana. Please consider donating to help the Mercy Project continue their vital work.
