The Tripleshot CrossFondo fun and mud continue on Sunday October 18, 2020!!!! Join riders of all ages and abilities for Victoria's first mass participation off-road cycling event! The course, appropriate for cyclocross or mountain bikes, winds through flowing pine-needle trails and hairpin turns, over hills, roots and rocks, and churns through mud, creeks and deep puddles. There may be a few hike-a-bike sections to keep it legit and many more property owners are opening up access to their land for race day and they have their own surprises - remember the old truck? The greenhouse? The MUD? Oh the things that you'll see!
This event is a fund raiser for the Tripleshot Cycling Club Youth Team and a portion of the funds raised will support the development and maintenance of our region's amazing trail systems. So far you have helped us donate $10,350 to the South Vancouver Island Nature Trails Society and South Island Mountain Bike Society.
NEW FOR 2020: Individual Time Trial Format (see below). Select your predicted riding speed when you register. Registration deadline: Friday, October 9, 2020 - a full 9 days before the event. This enables us to get the best pricing for everything we need to make this your favourite event!
NEW DUE TO COVID-19: We have been working with the amazing staff at the Island Health (VIHA) Environmental Health Office to take the appropriate modifications due to Covid-19.
Some of the modifications include:
Individual Time Trial format (your predicted riding speed on your registration form will help us determine start list)
Volunteers will be masked and practicing physical distancing
Hand washing stations at access points and port-a-potty sites
Sanitized surfaces and physical distancing throughout the start/finish area and at nutrition/water stations. No-touch bottle filling.
Distanced parking
Musette lunch to enjoy away from the start/finish area (a ‘musette’ is a sling bag full of goodies that is given to pro riders while they’re racing. Don’t worry, you can stop for a moment to get yours!)
Participant cap of 250 riders.
Of course, if the pandemic conditions worsen and there is a requirement to postpone the event until 2021, we will offer a refund (less a service fee) or will defer your entry to 2021.
For the course, you have two options: Doubleshot (short course) approx 25 km; Tripleshot (long course) approx 45 km. Please be aware that these distances are APPROXIMATES!! The development of the course takes months of communication with local governments, businesses and private landowners. Until the course is finalized in September 2020, we won't know the EXACT distance. And remember, on-course nutrition and mechanical support, yummy food & bevvies are included with your entry fee!
Got a lot of friends? Form a team of 4 riders! (Note: a cycling club does not qualify as a 'team'!). You MUST register all participants at the same time; simply fill out Rider #1 information and then click "add participant" for each subsequent rider. (this means you need all subsequent riders' date of birth, Cycling BC Licence # if they have one, address, phone #, emergency contact name and phone number when you register). You'll save 10% on your total entry fee and could possibly win a prize for best costume/theme, or some other weird category we dream up.
VERY IMPORTANT NOTE: There will be no registration on Race Day and if you don't have a CBC licence, you must purchase a one-day licence when you register.
RACE PKG PICKUP: One day only! Saturday Oct 17 at Russ Hay's the Bicycle Shop 650 Hillside Ave from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Note: ONLY if you are riding over from the mainland on event day will you be able to pick up your race number onsite.
