Our story…

We believe in the support Lighthouse offers, and the work it does. They have built a solid foundation, they are an established charity with over 20 years of experience and a level of professionalism that is sought after. As one of the thought leaders in the field of grief and bereavement, Lighthouse is fulfilling their vision. In addition to their core service, companioning bereaved children, their work educating and training professionals across our multicultural communities is enabling us all to learn more about the language of death and how to support grieving children and their families with compassion.

Description

With your support, we will raise funds to support grieving children in our community. Children like Josie benefit from the work we do at Lighthouse. Read her words below - she recently shared how being with her support group makes her feel.

365 participants were supported at Lighthouse in 2019. At a cost of $1700 per child each year, and with no government support, our fundraising is vital. The challenges of COVID-19 restrictions means that we will struggle to meet our 2020 fundraising goals as we rely on events - please consider making a donation today.

All donations enable us to provide hope and healing to those most impacted.

Our groups are currently being run virtually and families are receiving at-home activities and ongoing regular support from staff.
With two-thirds of our Lighthouse families being sole parents, the increased isolation and anxiety caused by this pandemic will mean our services will be needed more than ever.
In the aftermath of this pandemic, we anticipate a surge in the need for grief support as families have been unable to say goodbye to loved ones and mourning rituals have been restricted.
