Virtual Races for 2020

The annual Icelandic Festival 10 Mile, 5K and 1 Mile races will take virtually this year, in order to help keep our communities safe and stop the spread of COVID-19. Virtual races allow participants to compete for prizes (and glory), while enjoying the flexibility of choosing a time and date to run that works best for you.

Entrants can participate beginning at noon (CST) on Sunday July 19^th and must submit their times no later than noon (CST) on Sunday, August 2^nd to be considered eligible for race results

How do i participate in a virtual race?

· Complete the registration for the race(s) of your choice. If you would like to purchase limited edition 2020 Icelandic Festival race gear to run your race in – click here to order.

· After registering, runners will receive a DIGITAL RACE KIT as well as instructions on how to participate. If you chose to pre-order any 2020 Icelandic Festival race gear it will be made available for shipping or pick-up prior to the race dates.

· Runners have between noon (CST) on Sunday, July 19^th and noon (CST) on Sunday, August 2^nd to run 10 miles (16.1 KM), 5 kilometers, or 1 mile (1.6 KM) in a single increment at a location of their choice.

·Runners must record their race in real time by a Global Positioning System (GPS) either with a GPS enabled watch or a smart phone and once completed, upload the results to RaceRoster automatically by using the RunKeeper App https://runkeeper.com/running-app.

·Winners will be announced Monday, August 3^rd on the Icelandic Festival website and social media during the Virtual Islendingadagurinn. Details will be provided on where entrants can pick-up or ship medals, ribbons and prizes.
